  1. SECURITY BASICS

Protecting yourself in crypto

Security is probably the most important area to fully grasp before entering the NFT / crypto space.

You are the bank

The best mindset to use when approaching the crypto space is to imagine yourself as your own bank. All of those sometime annoying security protocols that banks use are there to minimize their own risk but in crypto its your own responsibility to take the necessary steps to protect yourself.

When you think about maintaining your own security in the NFT & Crypto space try to take the mindset that you are the "bank" and take all the precautions you can to protect your assets.

Paper and Pencil is the best protection of your tech!

The safest way to protect your investment is to save all your passwords somewhere offline!

Make sure your passwords are complex and at least 16 characters long. NEVER SAVE THEM ONLINE. Make a list of them on paper or even a non flammable material and save copies of them in a couple different locations.

Hot Wallet

To get started you can get a crypto wallet that acts as a browser extension such as MetaMask that will allow you to buy coins and store your NFTs.

Unidentifiable Email

Make a new email account that has no association with you, your name, or any name that someone could guess. Create an account on ProtonMail for added protection & privacy.

Bookmark your frequently used NFT Sites

Use bookmarks for all your regular NFT sites to avoid accidentally getting scammed by a fake website. Use reputable sources when navigating NFT sites by checking the actual links from Project owners Twitter accounts.

Do Not use Public Wifi:

Whenever possible do your NFT work over secure wifi or even better, ethernet connection but at all costs avoid public wifi use.
