Why re-invent the wheel here when Mintable.app is a great place to start for 1st time artists to the NFT space - they also offer a free minting option that you can learn more about on their site.

Open Sea is the most common minting option

Although the NFT marketplace is fluctuating very quickly OpenSea.io has the greatest marketshare and is the most common site for minting NFTs.

Get started here but be sure to have your wallet ready.
